Prostate cancer is the third most common cause of cancer related deaths in Australia. It is more common in older men, with 85% of cases diagnosed in men over the age of 65. It is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Australian men, exceeding the number of deaths in women from breast cancer.

MRI is the gold standard because it provides more detailed images of the prostate gland than other radiological tests, such as Computed Tomography (CT) or Ultrasound.
The MRI machine uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to examine your prostate. It does not use x-rays and is safe and painless.
